I decided to wear one more summery dress to bid farewell to the season.  Goodbye summer, hello fall!  I'm going to spend some time this week storing summer clothing, making a fall wish list, setting goals for the season and creating a list of things I'd like to do in my city before winter arrives.

Summer will soon come to an end (so not ready...) unless I find some type of unbelievable deal, I'll only be purchasing items I can wear now while it's still warm and later with layers when fall arrives like this skirt. I look forward to remixing it with tights, ankle boots, a leather jacket and a scarf next time.  The idea of wearing fall clothing makes the thought of summer ending a little better.

I've come to the conclusion that I carry around way too much stuff in my bag on weekdays but I can't help myself.  I want to be prepared for any occasion (tired feet in need of flats, make-up retouch, desire to write down my thoughts, rain...you get the idea).   So on weekends, I now stick to cross body bags like this vintage Coach one I bought recently or clutches. See past what's in by bag posts here and here.   Now I have to just translate this less is better mentality to my weekday bag...

Updated Maxi

What do you do when one of your favorite maxi dresses (previously worn in this post, this one and this one) starts to look faded from washing?  Well, if you're me, you buy a box of RIT Dye and dye it. I really liked the original print of this maxi dress and wasn't ready to part with it, so dying it black was a practical solution.

How do you extend the wear of your well worn (and loved) items?

Happy Monday! I decided to give a fresh look to this hand-me-down jumpsuit previously worn here with some RIT Dye (this is the color I used).  Though I have used RIT Dye before, I've never actually tie-dyed a clothing item before.  But I figured, if I'm going to experiment, I might as well do so on something I didn't actually pay for in the first place.  Using dye is one of my favorite ways to modify the look of clothing because it's so inexpensive and relatively easy.

If I were to give one piece of advice to people who aren't comfortable being in networking settings, I'd say wear a distinctive piece of clothing or accessory that can serve as a conversation starter for everyone you interact with.  It works for me every time.  These pants would be a perfect example of what I'd wear for those times when I'm feeling shy.

Accidental Color Blocking

Some days call for thoughtful mix printing or sleek monochrome, but sometimes accidental color blocking (grabbing the first two pieces of clothing you put your hands on) is the way to choose your outfit of the day.

Farewell June, Hello July!  I can't quite believe that the year is half over already.  But summer is in full swing and though I'm loving the warm weather, I could use a break from all the muggy rain Philly has been getting lately...

Since summer is speeding by so fast, I better finish writing my summer bucket list this week to make the most of this season.  High up on my list are: a few visits to the beach, flea markets and music festivals.

Black + White Simplicity

Though I've worn plenty of color so far this year (especially pink), I've also worn a great deal of black and white.  When you are short on time in the morning, sometimes coordinating patterns or bright colors is a bit of a lofty goal. On these days, picking the simplest of colors: black and white works best.

My thoughts and prayers are still with those affected by the Boston Marathon bombings.

I hope the skinny jeans style is always widely available in stores because for this petite girl, they are the jeans style of choice.  Just scrunch the extra fabric at the ankles instead of alteration and call it a day.  One of these days when I either feel like paying for a tailor or learn to sew myself I may alter these camo jeans, but for now, it's scrunch and go!

Happy Monday!  Though I missed that hour we lost over the weekend, I'll gladly give up the hour for more sunlight in the evenings.  Daylight savings is definitely a win-win for a style blogger.  Spring (closely followed by fall) is my favorite season so I'm happy that it's nearly here.  This dress will easily transition to spring weather and the next time I wear it, I hope it's warm enough to go without a bulky winter coat . Despite the lack of heavy outerwear in these photos, a winter coat is still very much a necessity until spring weather decides to stick around.

Happy Monday! I am a creature in habit regarding several things including fashion.  I don't know what it is with me and any type of vest, but I love them.  I've had this sweater vest for a while and I just found another vest on clearance for $5 at a second hand store over the weekend.  I'm, sure I'll get tired of them eventually, but for now, I'll just go with it.

Happy Monday! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. I wore different variations of this outfit for most of the Thanksgiving weekend and I see it being in heavy rotation during the weekends for a while.  My current fashion motto for this season is: when in doubt, add a vest.  I think it's served me well so far.
