Links of the Week: March 29th

How is it Easter weekend already? While I'm happy that spring is finally here, the first quarter of the year is flying by at an alarming speed.  Gotta make every day count!  Here is some reading material to keep you occupied this weekend.

How to look good in pictures.

Loving the visual inspiration of this Tumblr

I'm really into swapping, so I really like this advice on how to host a clothing swap.

I will definitely bookmark this guide for my next drugstore run for spring lipsticks.

I will keep these tips in mind when I attend my next workshop or conference.

I definitely plan to exercise more this spring, maybe I'll add these to my fitness gear wish list.

I'm feeling kind of inspired to create an idea book similar to this one over the weekend.

I wish Instagram was my jam, but it hasn't been this year....I think I'll follow these tips to get inspired to take more photos with my phone regularly.

Here are one blogger's secrets for feeling awesome 96% of the time.

I'd love to add this cheerful watch to my collection.

Your phone vs your heart.

Have a lovely weekend, and Happy Easter and Passover!

Yellow + Black

Blazer: Loft (old); shirt: H&M; Necklace: Shoxie; Skirt: swapped; wedges: Target

There's nothing like adding a dash of yellow to your outfit to
brighten your mood.

Yellow and striped
I've been wearing a lot more black and white lately, so adding a
dash of color gives this look a nod to spring.  Speaking of spring,
I sure hope this morning's snow was the last until next winter.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

Spring Reading List

Spring is here, though it doesn't quite feel like it in the Northeast,
so it's time for my next seasonal reading list.

The Law of Divine Compensation //Kinky Gazpacho

I'm still waiting for the last two books on my winter reading list to become available at my local library, so stay tuned for reviews of them sometime soon.

What are you planning to read this spring?

Pink + Turbaned

Blazer: thrifted; V-neck T: American Apparel;
head scarf: borrowed; Jeans: Gap; Heels: Shoe Mint

Happy first day of spring! On a recent weekend when I was lacking wardrobe inspiration, I took a page from my Mother's book and added a blazer, turban and a swipe of red lipstick to my regular weekend staples (jeans and a t-shirt).

Maybe a remix is in order to get inspired during this transisitional period until we start getting weather in Philly that feels more spring-like.

What tricks do you try when you're lacking wardrobe inspiration?

Decor Inspiration: Gallery Wall

Next up on my apartment decor to-do list is to create a gallery wall based on some of the inspiration below.

Here are a few pieces from Etsy I would add to my growing pile of gallery wall artwork.

Currently wishing for...an everyday springy bag

Since winter has decided to stick around in Philly until the very end of the season, I'll start focusing on a spring item I can wear right now, like a handbag for every day wear.

Links of the Week: March 15th

Happy Friday! Three cheers for making it through the first week of daylight savings! I feel so much more productive in the evenings and ready to do stuff because of the extra hours of daylight.
Here is some reading material to keep you occupied this weekend.

So like many other folks this week, I was bummed to hear about the approaching demise of Google Reader.  But you can still read all of your blogs and news sites on Bloglovin (here is a link to mine).  Here are a few other RSS feed reader alternatives.

Just more stuff (do we really need it?)

This fun animal print dress would look great dressed up for the evening or dressed down for a weekend afternoon.

A 9:30pm weeknight concert invite today versus five years ago

10 apps that will change your life

I'm in the mood to do some baking, so these fun measuring cups would be fun to use

I don't work for myself or work from home, but I still think this is a great idea for future reference.

Here is a great recap of lessons learned from attending SXSW and here is another.  These posts make me want to attend next year!

I agree with all of these relatively simple tips to overcome blogger burnout

I'm going to update one (or more) of my bangles for spring like this blogger did.

Have a lovely weekend!

Decor Inspiration: Small Space, Big Style

I moved to a small space earlier this year, and I'm slowly starting to decorate.  I'd like my home to  reflect my style aesthetic. So when I was stumped on inspiration, I do what many of us do when searching for inspiration these days...I started a pin board.  Here are a few of my current favorites.  I'm loving white walls with pops of colors on artwork these days.

Denim + Teal

teal and denim 2
Jacket: Zara Girls section (similar)//Dress: Target (similar)//Necklace: Shoxie

Happy Monday!  Though I missed that hour we lost over the weekend, I'll gladly give up the hour for more sunlight in the evenings.  Daylight savings is definitely a win-win for a style blogger.  Spring (closely followed by fall) is my favorite season so I'm happy that it's nearly here.  This dress will easily transition to spring weather and the next time I wear it, I hope it's warm enough to go without a bulky winter coat . Despite the lack of heavy outerwear in these photos, a winter coat is still very much a necessity until spring weather decides to stick around.

Enjoy this last stretch of winter and have a great week!

Happy Friday! So today is my birthday it will be a snowy but good one.  Here is some reading to keep you occupied this weekend.

When I saw this link on Yes and Yes, I had to share.  Does anyone else remember the store Delias?  I remember bookmarking items i wanted as a middle schooler.

Still working on your taxes? Here are ten tax mistakes you don't want to make.

I really liked this review of a new DC company that delivers ingredients to make great meals in your home.

I really liked this post: For fathers.

I so admire when people take big leaps of faith.

Birthday Wish List

So my birthday is coming up (any fellow Pisceans out there?) and I'm a year closer to 30 (yikes!).  I want to look chic as I approach the end of my twenties (don't we all?).  So here are a few things on my birthday wish list.

Fuchisa + Snakeskin Print

Sweater: Old Navy --old (similar); Skirt: swapped; Necklace &; Earrings: H&M

Happy Wednesday! Though the rainy, cold (and for some snowy) weather is still around, fashion-wise, I've started focusing on spring (global prints! bright colors! pastels! florals! black & white!).  Until spring weather officially arrives, I still plan to get some wear out of winter items that haven't been in rotation much this year like this fuchsia sweater.  For me, pops of bright colors in clothing and lipstick become necessities during the last stretch of winter.

Are you counting down the days until spring or loving this cold, winter weather?

February Favorites

february favorites
Happy Monday! Here are a few of my favorites from the month of February.
  1.  Snack: Banana with Nutella is my snack of choice this month.  Note: I don't consume an entire jar with ONE banana.
  2. Outfit: This is my favorite outfit of the month.  And to think, I nearly took this orange blazer to the Buffalo Exchange on my last closet purge.
  3. Book: I love cookbooks for finding cool recipes but also for looking at pictures of pretty food.  This one I picked up at the library a few weeks ago is my current favorite.  Maybe I'll try a recipe from the cookbook in March.
  4. Beauty Product: I was skeptical at first of argan oil but I've recently discovered that it is a great winter time moisturizer
  5. App: Since I don't have cable (or a TV for that matter), Hulu Plus enables me to keep track of my favorite shows (like Scandal...)
  6. Music:  I didn't have any albums in heavy listening rotation during the month of February, but I did like this song...
