Dots + Denim

I'm not usually a shorts-wearing girl, but multiple 90+ degree days makes me bring out one of the few pairs I own.  

Monday came around kind of fast this week.  Who else is wishing the weekend was a tad bit longer?

The short of it

This dress is so much more wearable since I got it shortened (previously worn in this post). Now I'm inspired to search my closet to see if I have anything else in there I haven't been wearing that could use minor alterations.  Having clothing that is the proper length is key for shorties like me and for taller ladies.

I'm a strong believer in being true to your personal style for work and for personal time, so I definitely felt like "myself" at work in this casual Friday outfit.  I don't believe in saving my bright colored pieces for weekend wear only. 

Jackets have a way of making even the most casual look work for professional settings. I could easily swap my jeans for a pencil skirt and pumps for a dressier work day. 

Enough about my outfit, here is to a positive and productive week!

I can't believe August is over, this summer flew by so fast!  There are only a few official weeks to go.  Why it took me so long to wear this dress as a skirt, I have no idea, but better late than never.

Petite Fall Style: Shop the Kids Section

I went online yesterday to look for a denim jacket in the kids sections of a few stores and got distracted by some of the cute fall items they have in stock. Yes, I occasionally shop the kids section and I would totally wear any of these outfits. As a petite, shopping for cute, age-appropriate clothing that fits is sometimes a challenge, but options are more easily available now, especially if you're willing to wear the same styles as your daughters, nieces or god-daughters...

Btw, this is the denim jacket I chose.

Coral and White

Dress: Buffalo Exchange (similar); Belt: UO; Blazer: H&M; Shoes: Target; Bracelets/Ring: H&M

 When I set my eyes on this coral polka dot dress the other day I had to wear it, though its maxi length makes it more suitable for weekends.  I made this weekend-ish dress work-appropriate with a blazer and belt to bring up the length.  I find that blazer and belt can make most dresses mid-length or maxi length dresses work appropriate.
