Fall Style Inspiration

Fall Fashion Inspiration
It took a while, but now I'm finally excited about fall; of course a big portion of my excitement comes from fall fashion possibilities.  Here is some "Pinspiration" from my Fall Style Pinterest Board and some items I'd love to add to my fall wardrobe this season.

Currently wishing for...fall transitional pieces

Untitled-2

I'm not quite ready for the summer to end, but since I don't seem to have a choice, it's time to focus on fall pieces that I can wear now while it's still warm and later with layers when the chilly fall weather sets in.  These items are purely aspirational, but I will keep these choices in mind when I do any clothing or accessory shopping.

Currently Wishing for... a timeless gold watch

Currently Wishing for - Timeless Gold Watch

  1. Juicy Couture Gold Watch
  2. Lacoste Watch, Women's Palma Goldtone Stainless Steel Bracelet
  3. Michael Kors Round Watch, Golden
  4. Marc by Marc Jacobs Henry Colored Crystal Bracelet Watch
  5. DKNY Gold Polished Roundface with Matte Metallic Dial
  6. Citizens Ladies Wrist Watch

For the past several years, my cell phone has served as my watch. I think the last time I actually bought a watch was in high school...But it would be nice to add a timeless gold watch to my collection and also to be a little less reliant on my cell phone to tell time.

Currently wishing for...earrings

currently wishing for - ear bobs

My shopping will be of the imaginary variety for the next few weeks, but that doesn't stop me from wishing (and bookmarking) things I'd enjoy wearing like earrings.  I guess I have silver and gold on the brain right now.

Currently wish for... handbags!

I'd like a roomy bag that would fit the plethora (just wanted an excuse to use that word) of items I carry around on a daily basis.

Since summer is almost here, it would also be nice to get a bag in a color other than black.

What I Wish I Wore: 4th of July

The 4th of July holiday weekend is only weeks away, and this dress caught my eye because I thought the bright red color would be festive to wear to a cookout or an outdoor festival like the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival that is taking place over the weekend in D.C. Because I'm pretty short in real life, I love heels, but I decided that I'd go for comfort with the look above and wear reasonable flat sandals instead of sky-high wedges. I also chose a roomy bag that could easily fit a water bottle, an umbrella in case of summer showers, or a camera to document fun activities for the day.

Dress: Mod Cloth

Bag: Spotted Moth
Shoes: Amiclubwear

What I Wish I Wore: Date Nite

Dress: Modcloth
Shoes: Endless
Earrings: JessLC
Locket: Modcloth
Clutch: Endless

This dress caught my eye because it looks like it could easily transition from day to evening with a cardigan or blazer and different accessories. My self-imposed one month shopping hiatus is getting to me. I find myself staring wistfully at my closet each morning wishing there was something new (or new to me) in there. I have successfully stayed out of my favorite 'brick and mortar' stores for most of the month, but window shopping on the Internet is another story...temptation is everywhere. If I can make it through Memorial Day weekend without any clothing purchases, I'll be home free!

I was prompted to lessen my spending after looking at my purchases through Mint and realizing that I had very little to show for the money leaving my checking account. Though I didn't deprive myself, I really tried to think about my purchases more this month and ask myself if I really needed the item I was considering. Though I plan to get a few items, I'm going to keep my 'spending awareness' up during the month of June and will make an effort to make my money stretch as far as possible. I think some thrifting is in order...I usually just save my thrifting for when I'm Philly visiting family, but I'll have to find some spots to go to in DC. Suggestions are welcome!

Do you implement shopping 'pauses' to get your spending in balance?
