Contents of My Bag

In an effort to obtain photographic inspiration in my apartment today, I took a few photos of the contents of my purse (after tidying it up). I carry around even more stuff on a regular work day (lunch, shoes, ear buds for my iPhone, etc). After looking at these photos, I realize I have no idea what happened to the pen I also usually keep in my bag. I'm rarely to be found without book to read, a notebook of some sort to write in and a pen. I am a former girl scout after all and can't seem to shake the motto of 'always be prepared'...

What must-have's do you carry around regularly?

Excuse the Radio Silence...

Please excuse the radio silence...I'd much rather be blogging, but I need to take mini hiatus for a few days to work on a paper...I'll be back soon!

Camera Woes and 2011 Rachel Roy Resort Collection

Images: Style.com

Recently, I went to mount my camera on my tripod to take my regular outfit shots when my camera tripod tumbled and my camera fell face down on its lens. After my initial shout of anguish, I tried to fix it to no avail and then realized it's probably still covered under its warranty, so as soon as I can make it to the post office, my camera will be shipped to a repair center to be fixed. I'll either have to use my old Kodak camera that is several years old, or rely on the kindness of friends/family to take my outfit photos until I get my Canon Powershot back. *Smh*

In the mean time, here are a few of my favorite looks from Rachel Roy's 2011 Resort collection. I love the color palette used in this collection and could imagine myself wearing many of the pieces in the collection in real life. This collection makes me want to plan a vacation to an Italian city like Rome, Venice or Milan. I can almost visualize myself wearing some orange palazzo pants and a straw hat while walking around Rome eating gelato. I'd also practice what I remember from my high school Italian classes with everyone I meet... A girl can dream right?

Comforts of a Sunny Saturday

Any Saturday is a good day in my book, but a sunny one is the best of all!

P.S. Are any other iPhone users loving the Hipstamatic application?

Dear spring time, please come soon...

This time of year is tough for me because though I was technically born in the winter, I really love spring time. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm tired of snow and having to wear boots! I was browsing though photos on my laptop and found this one. This outfit photo was taken during the warmer months of 2009. I have the feeling that there are good things yet to come for winter 2010, but I'm looking forward to the spring time (and opportunities to take pictures outside without a coat!).

One of my favorite stores is closing...

I walked by one of my favorite stores recently, a vintage store on Capitol Hill called The Remix and thought it was odd that they were having such a huge sale. Then yesterday, while looking through my email, I noticed that I received an email from The Remix which is pretty normal because I am on their email list and regularly get emails about sales and specials. But when I opened up the email, I let out an audible groan when I read that they are closing their doors for good in February after almost a decade of existence. That so bummed me out! I loved popping in that store to look for some vintage clothing and accessories to add a pop to my wardrobe. I loved that they usually stocked a lot of items in small sizes because I am pretty short. The store owner and I are actually the same size, I always feel a kinship to people who are short, petite, like me. I found some really great dresses there like this one, this one, this one, and this one.
The Remix, you'll be missed!
