When I discovered the item chosen for this month's Everybody, Everywear, was the maxi, I knew I had to participate! I love maxi dresses and skirts because of their comfort, style and versatility. Versatility is really the name of the game with me if you hadn't noticed already! As I've probably mentioned before, I've been wearing maxi's for years despite the style rule I sometimes see in books and mags that short petites should not wear long dresses and skirts.
Maxi dress (worn as skirt): Forever 21; Belt: Nordstrom's (Junior's Dept); Shirt: Gap; Scarf: Old Navy; Shoes: Target; Faux Glasses: Urban Outfitters; Earrings: Forever 21
If wearing maxi dresses and skirts are wrong, I don't want to be right!
Want to know a not-so-secret petite style trick? When your skirt or dress is too long, belt it up to bring the length of the skirt up and wear your highest wedges. One of these days, I'll make it to my local tailor...
You look great maxed out Shen!

ReplyDeleteThat deep purple color is so pretty on you and I love your scarf!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this on you. And um, you are CUTE! That scarf is pretty fantastic, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI think maxis look great on short girls! And there's nothing wrong with looking short. in fact it's cute : )
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, I've been loving long skirts since junior high even though I'm only 5'1"... I'm too lame to wear heels, though :P

I love this! You look incredible. I've never owned a maxi before (at least not as an adult) but now I really want to go find one. Or two.

There is something so casual and comfortable about this look. I love the skirt and tee and scarf. It's so simple yet so effective :)
ReplyDeleteOh, you can't be wrong--you look great!! I love how you styled this, it manages to look laid-back but very stylish at the same time. I'm going to try to wear my maxi dress as a skirt--did you just fold the top part under?
ReplyDeleteSo love your look, the purple skirt is amazing and I love the colourful scarf!

You look great! One of my fave looks from EBEW-Maxi! The purple is to die for!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I never stopped liking maxi's but I'm happy they are making a resurgence this season!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I just put the dress on and layered the shirt on top and belted it. Sometimes I can fold dress at the top to wear as a skirt, but that didn't work for this dress.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! What a lovely complement!
ReplyDeleteThanks lady!
ReplyDeleteI don't want to be right, either. Good thing, since I'm absolutely not. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the vibrant purple of your skirt/dress and how well that's picked up in the scarf. And the combo of your glasses and your hairs- so cute!!
You rocked that maxi girl! ;)

You always look so good in maxi skirts! I sometimes wear them too (even though I'm a petite) but I never look as good as you! I think it's because my torso I really long and I can never seem to get the skirt to sit right. I'll have to try belting higher next time.
ReplyDeleteCute outfit! Love the scarf!

ReplyDeleteThank lady!

ReplyDeleteThis outfit is so lovely! I adore the vibrant scarf with the purple dress.
ReplyDeleteOh, my pocket-sized Shen. I'm so far behind on commenting. But I can't go without telling you how much I love this. And I love that you wear the maxi on your petite frame. When some of the girls complained about the EBEW maxi theme not being petite-friendly, I sent them to your blog. You do it so well. This is no exception.
ReplyDeleteAll around adorable! Love everything about this outfit - fresh, a little funky, feminine...a home run. :)
